Save Surrey Cyclists From A Sticky Mess!

Many years ago, in the remote mountain village of Knockofalot, a young boy named Krashan Topalova had a dream of becoming a champion racing cyclist. However, his parents forbade him from riding a bike due to his unbalanced nature. This led to an intense jealousy of cyclists, and now, as one of the world's most infamous supervillains, Topalova has a dastardly plan to sabotage the world-famous 'Tour de Box Hill' cycle race. But with your help, we can stop him!

Spy Mission Through Box Hill - Woodland & Hillside

Attention all secret agents! Your self-guided spy mission begins at the top of Box Hill, where you'll embark on a thrilling journey through woodland and across the hillside. Along the way, you'll take in breathtaking views along a section of the North Downs Way. But beware - Topalova's computer-controlled drones are on the lookout for you!

Finish your top-secret assignment at the famous Box Hill viewing point, away from prying eyes and enemy spies. But remember, you'll have to act naturally to avoid detection - after all, Topalova has an army of henchmen ready to stop you!

Are YOU ready to save the day and prevent Topalova's evil plan from succeeding?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Navigating The Route

This is a circular spy mission across Box Hill’s woodland and hillside terrain, with agents following footpaths, woodland tracks and open hillside routes as they work to intercept Topalova’s glue-dropping drones.

The mission takes place on rough, uneven ground with hills, woodland paths and exposed sections, and paths may become muddy and slippery after wet weather, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Important: You will be navigating steep slopes, narrow paths, woodland areas and open hillside sections, so agents should watch their footing, stay alert at all times and keep younger operatives under close supervision. Some areas are exposed, so take care in poor weather and avoid straying from the path.

Getting There

By car: Use Box Hill Car Park (KT20 7LB) - park here and proceed on foot across the road to the Visitor Centre, your official mission starting point.

By public transport: The number 21 bus from Dorking or Leatherhead runs Monday to Saturday every 2 hours and drops off at the Box Hill Visitor Centre. Box Hill & Westhumble railway station is nearby be be warned, it's a 1-mile walk to the Visitor Centre up a rather steep hill.

Need the Loo?

Even elite agents need a quick comfort break! Facilities are available at the Visitor Centre near the start of your mission, but once you head out into the field there are no further opportunities, so plan ahead before leaving base.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged agents are welcome on this mission 🐾

With woodland trails and open hillside to explore, it’s a great outing for dogs - just keep leads handy near livestock, on narrower paths and in busier areas around the Visitor Centre.

Food & Drink Stops

Agents, stock up before heading out! The Visitor Centre area near Clues 01 and 11 acts as your main supply point, so it’s wise to grab refreshments or snacks here before venturing deeper into the mission.

There are no facilities out in the field, but there are excellent picnic spots at Donkey Green (around Clues 03 and 10) and near the final viewpoint if you’ve packed supplies.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Woodland Trails and Hillside Views

Box Hill is famous for its sweeping views across the Surrey Hills, and your mission takes you right through some of its most scenic stretches.

Get Closer to Nature

You'll pass several activity stops on the nature play trail at Box Hill, so allow extra time if you like to have a good clamber over or under logs!

Viewpoints and Victory Moments

The final viewpoint is the perfect place to pause, catch your breath and admire the landscape - ideally just after you’ve saved the day and rerouted those drones.
